About the event

In 1981, four death-row members of ASALA — the Armenian Secret Army — seized the Turkish consulate in Paris. After negotiations, they surrendered to authorities on the condition that their trial would be open and public. The Turkish prosecutors made every effort to label them as terrorists. However, the stance of these 4 heroic Armenian young men and the words of their defense lawyer, the famous Patrick Devedjian, proved to the court and the whole world that they are claimants, and that what happened in 1915 was not only a great loss and tragedy for our country but a genocide. The play was staged in 2015 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The play has been performed 100 times to date. The message of the “Paris Verdict” production resonates strongly, especially among patriotic youth.
