His plays have been staged on Broadway, and films have been made based on them. The play Mixed Feelings tells the story of two elderly, lonely people. She has lost her husband, and he — his wife. They used to be family friends, and now they are both alone. As a famous song says, “Two lonely souls just met…” They want to feel the taste of life again. Although throughout the play the characters quarrel and make up, recalling their late spouses, they come to realize that they need each other. The play Mixed Feelings is humane and somewhat sentimental. It is about love — about the need, at any age, to feel that you matter to someone, that you are not alone.
