Theatre - Behind The Mountain

About the event
Created against the backdrop of the devastating consequences of the 2020 Artsakh
War, this drama centers on the love story of two teenagers. Their personal grief
becomes the painful lens through which the fate of a people who have forever
lost their mountains is revealed.
The action takes place five to six months after the 44 day war, unfolding
through parallel narratives that portray different generations inseparably bound
to their land. An 85 year old grandfather who longs to return to his home lost
somewhere among the mountains. A freedom fighter disabled in the First Artsakh
War who cannot imagine his life outside of Artsakh. A man who is trying to
rebuild his house and stolen identity from scratch, both of which he lost in
Hadrut. A hopeful young woman who waits for her fiancรฉ, missing in action since
the war. At the intersection of personal loss and national tragedy, this play
celebrates the unbreakable spirit of a people for whom the homeland is not
merely a territory, but an inseparable, living part of their very being.
