Concert - SINGING PARAJANOV

Jul 12 • 7:00 PM

About the event

On July 12 at 19:00, the Armenian State Philharmonia, Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall, will host “Singing Parajanov”. This musical, literary, and visual creation by Michel Petrossian, a French-Armenian composer, writer, and scholar, was developed in collaboration with video artist Marc de Pierrefeu and inspired by the world of Sergei Parajanov. The performance brings together the twelve virtuoso singers of the French ensemble Musicatreize, under the direction of conductor Roland Hayrabedian. The music draws inspiration from Parajanov’s artistic techniques and merges with animated collages that intertwine with the voices of the Musicatreize singers and the composer himself. Titles from Parajanov’s films and letters, alongside texts by Jean-Luc Godard, Federico Fellini, Sayat-Nova, and the composer, sung in Armenian, French, and Italian, accompany this journey as a creative homage to the man who declared: “I shall take my revenge on the world through love.” Roland Hayrabedian is among France’s most distinguished conductors in the field of contemporary vocal music. Founder and Artistic Director of the renowned Musicatreize ensemble, he has collaborated with leading European orchestras, ensembles, composers, and stage directors. Marc de Pierrefeu is a Paris-based filmmaker, videographer, and photographer. His work includes numerous documentaries and music films in classical music, as well as a screen adaptation of Dostoevsky’s The Grand Inquisitor. We invite you to enter the world of Parajanov’s visionary imagination through a contemporary artistic experience. A wine reception will follow the performance.
