About the event

Valery Galendeev's production of "The Unknown Friend," based on Ivan Bunin's novel, featuring Ksenia Rappoport and Polina Osetinskaya. Fourteen letters from an unknown and nameless woman to an unnamed "famous" writer. Director Valery Galendeev, together with Ksenia Rappoport and Polina Osetinskaya, have transformed this story into a ninety-minute masterpiece, a diamond of exquisite craftsmanship, refined and flawless. Two dazzlingly beautiful and sensual, aristocratic and intelligent, charming and impeccably elegant women, dressed with a graceful, unobtrusive nod to the era, are present on stage simultaneously. There's a clear sense of kinship between them, a kinship of souls, a similarity of attitudes toward life, and a similarity of destinies... This love story, left unanswered, from its timid beginning to its almost tragic ending, played with virtuoso skill and genuine emotion, is so relatable to anyone who has ever loved that catharsis is inevitable. And if you love theater, go see it. The performance will feature the following music: Pyotr Tchaikovsky β€” "The Doll's Illness" from the "Children's Album" cycle *** Sergei Rachmaninoff β€” Polka *** Pyotr Tchaikovsky β€” "Sweet Dream" from the "Children's Album" cycle *** Maurice Ravel β€” "Alborada del gracioso" from the "Reflections" cycle *** Claude Debussy β€” Prelude "Gardens in the Rain" *** Sergei Rachmaninoff β€” Prelude in C minor, Op. 23, No. 7 *** Gabriel FaurΓ© β€” "Awakening" *** Anton Batagov β€” "Letter from Sergei Rachmaninoff to Ludovico Einaudi" *** Pavel Karmanov β€” "Past Perfect"
