Theatre - The Last Clown
About the event
The novels and plays of Bernard Slade are known for their deep human insight. One of his finest works is “The Last of the Red Hot Lovers” (translated as “The Last Clown” in this context). At the center of the story is Jack — a man who lived life on his own terms. A clown by profession, bringing joy to others was his mission. Now he is terminally ill and fully aware that the end is near. But Jack’s concern isn’t death — it’s how to leave life with grace, with joy, without causing sorrow to others. When his son Judd and ex-wife Maggie come to visit, they’re shocked by his condition. But Jack is determined to pass on the lessons of a full and joyful life — to live for today.
