Based on the eponymous work by Sos SARGSYAN
This performance, based on Sos Sargsyan's work "Votnamannery (The Footwear)”
tells the story of a difficult childhood during the wartime, poverty, and human
resilience.
The main character, Arman, recalls 1942, when his father leaves for the front,
leaving behind nine children and a family burdened with severe hardships.
The boy's greatest pain becomes his worn-out and always wet shoes, which
symbolize the deprivation and childhood suffering brought by the war.
Throughout the performance, through humor, touching episodes, and childhood
innocence, the family’s struggle is revealed, the mother's self-sacrificing
love, the feeling of first love, and the impact of war on the human soul.
Despite the difficulties, the characters maintain their warmth, faith, and will
to live.
"Votnamannery" is a story about memory, longing, childhood, and human dignity.
