Theatre - Hair
May 6 • 7:00 PM
About the event
The legendary hippie rock musical by Galt MacDermot, James Rado, and Gerome
Ragni.
In 1999, the history of the Stas Namin Theater began with the staging of the
Russian version of the legendary hippie rock musical Hair (“Mazher” / “Hair”).
This controversial production, which radically changed the fate of an entire
generation in the 1960s, proved to be incredibly relevant in the 2000s as well.
It remains the first and, so far, the only staging of this культ musical in
Russia. As a result of the joint directing work of Bo Crowell and Stas Namin, a
unique Russian version of the production was created—fully adapted to modern
Russian reality.
“Hair” is a dramatic musical about youth, freedom, and war. It goes far beyond
simple entertainment, deeply moving audiences with its sincerity and boundless
energy.
For the young theater, staging “Hair” became a milestone that defined its future
direction—an endless pursuit of creative freedom and warm, trust-based
relationships within the troupe. Today’s company was born from that very “tribe
of love.”
For more than fifteen years, the production has been performed to sold-out
audiences every time.
